the big fake wedding 2017
My husband and I welcomed our daughter, Chloe, last month and together we worked on putting energy and creativity into The Big Fake Wedding on our own wedding anniversary the 19th of October. I loved meeting other vendors, learning about local small business, getting to know the owners of this awesome enterprise and meeting planning and engaged couples from all over the area!
I was asked to provide two full tablescapes and the cake backdrop for the event. My favorite display was a nod to the cyanotype theme using cobalts, coppers, golds, parchment and deep blues. I love all things vintage and I just knew I needed to use my antique typewriter for this look.
The other table I created was a rustic, textured look with simply white pumpkins filled with succulents for each place setting. I found vintage china patterns with just the right pop of blue and added colbalt blue taper candles to complete the centerpiece.
I had the chance to collaborate with Jan Grumbles who owns a cake/confectionary business and made the sweetest little cakes and cupcakes for this event. I tossed around a lot of ideas for the cake backdrop but settled on a simple, ivory and iron divider with a custom-made banner and my favorite: curtain twinkle lights!
My assistant for the night was my long time friend, once neighbor and talented stylist, @monica_greeno. She had to have a hand-made floral crown for the evening so I used dendrobium orchids, champagne roses and salal to craft her headpiece.
Next up was my Tunnel of Love booth, where couples could stop, sample some more of my work in person, look at our electronic slide show and sign up for one of our giveaways.
We even had complimentary loose-leaf organic chamomile, packaged in individual custom-made bags!
At the end of the night, we went home having met many couples, excitedly sharing in their joy and hearing proposal stories and tales of love. This is an event I would want to participate in again and again!
